Soft blur smears the selected box for busy or textured backgrounds. Solid colour paints a flat fill for clean, uniform backgrounds. This is a regional cover tool — it suits small or edge watermarks; a large watermark over a busy subject needs professional retouching.

Processed locally in your browser — the file is never uploaded.

What this tool covers

  • Corner stamps: a site name, username or logo in a corner that does not cover the subject.
  • Small overlays: a small block of text or a platform badge you own or are allowed to clean up.
  • Solid backgrounds: a watermark on a flat wall, sky or studio backdrop works best with solid-colour cover.
  • Honest limit: it box-covers the area; it does not reconstruct what is underneath. For a watermark across a face or fine detail, retouching software gives a cleaner result.

About this watermark remover

PixlReady's watermark remover covers an unwanted stamp by letting you drag a rectangle around it and either smear that box with a soft blur or paint it with a flat colour. There is no upload: the image stays in your browser tab, the box you draw is scaled back to the original resolution, and the edited image is downloaded straight to your device. For edge watermarks that you would rather crop away, use the [crop tool](/tools/crop.html); for blurring a whole background, use the [blur tool](/tools/blur.html).

Remove a Watermark From a Photo Online, in Your Browser

This watermark remover lets you box the stamp you want gone and cover it two ways: a soft blur that smears the selected area, or a flat solid colour you pick. You drag a rectangle over the watermark on the preview, choose the cover method, and download the cleaned image. Everything runs on your own device — the photo is read into a canvas, the box you drew is scaled back to the original resolution, and the result is generated locally, so the file never leaves your computer.

It is built for the common, easy cases: a corner site name, a small platform badge, or a stamp over a plain background. Because it covers rather than reconstructs, it works best on small or edge watermarks. For a longer walkthrough of every method from cropping to professional healing, read the guide on how to remove a watermark from a photo.

Key features

How to use

  1. Drop an image onto the page or click to choose one (JPG, PNG, WebP and common formats).
  2. Press and drag a rectangle over the watermark on the preview.
  3. Pick soft blur cover, or solid colour cover and a colour.
  4. Press Remove watermark and download the result.

The two cover methods explained

Soft blur cover takes the rectangle you drew and smears it: the region is downscaled and then scaled back up with smoothing on, which averages the pixels together into a gentle blur. This is the recommended default because it blends into textured, noisy or gradient backgrounds — a busy sky, a fabric backdrop, a wall — where a flat patch would obviously look pasted on.

Solid colour cover paints the whole rectangle with one colour you choose from the colour picker, white by default. Use it when the watermark sits on a clean, uniform surface: a white studio backdrop, a flat wall, or a product shot on a seamless background. On a busy photo, a solid square will read as an obvious patch, so choose blur there.

What this tool can and cannot do

This is a regional cover tool, not an inpainting or healing engine. It hides the watermark by replacing the selected box — with a blur or a flat colour — rather than guessing and rebuilding the detail that was underneath. That distinction matters for expectations.

It shines on a stamp in a corner, a small logo badge, a date stamp, or a text overlay on a simple background. It is the wrong tool for a large, semi-transparent watermark stretched across a face, a licence plate, or fine texture such as text on a document. Those cases need professional retouching or a source without the stamp. If the watermark sits on the very edge, the simplest fix of all is to crop it away.

Step by step: clean up a corner watermark

For an even blur over the whole background instead of a box, the blur tool applies Gaussian or mosaic blur across the whole frame. For turning a cleaned photo into a smaller web file afterwards, use the image compressor.

  1. Load your photo by dropping it onto the page or choosing it in the file picker.
  2. Press on the photo and drag a rectangle that just encloses the watermark; make it slightly larger than the stamp.
  3. Choose soft blur cover for a textured background, or solid colour cover and pick the matching colour for a flat one.
  4. Press Remove watermark; the edited image appears in the result panel.
  5. Download the PNG. If the box was slightly off, draw it again and re-run from the original.

Copyright: only clean up images you own or are licensed to use

Removing a watermark technically is not the same as owning the copyright. A stamp is there because the photographer, stock agency or platform marked the file. Please use this tool only on photos you took yourself, images you have a licence to edit, or your own uploads where you accidentally left a stamp on a draft.

Using someone else watermarked work after erasing the mark can infringe copyright, even for personal or commercial reuse. When you need an image for a project, prefer a royalty-free library, buy a licensed file, or take the photo yourself. This page explains the technique; it does not authorise stripping marks off work you do not have rights to.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this watermark remover free?

Yes. The tool runs in your browser at no cost, with no signup and no upload queue. You box the watermark, choose a cover, and download the result.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. The image is read into a local canvas in your browser tab, the rectangle you drew is scaled to the original size, and the edit is generated on your device. Nothing is transmitted. After the page loads you could even go offline.

Which cover method should I use?

Use soft blur cover on busy, textured or gradient backgrounds so the patch blends in. Use solid colour cover on clean, uniform backgrounds where you can match the colour exactly. The rectangle should be just bigger than the stamp.

Can it perfectly remove a watermark across a face?

No. This tool covers the box with a blur or flat colour; it does not reconstruct the detail underneath. A watermark over a face, fine text or a busy pattern will leave a visible patch. Those need professional retouching or a source without the stamp.

What if the watermark is on the edge?

Then cropping is usually cleaner. The crop tool cuts the stamp off entirely, leaving no blur or colour patch. Use the watermark remover when cropping would lose too much of the picture.

Does the output keep my original quality?

Yes. The edit is applied at the original pixel dimensions, and the result downloads as a PNG. The covered area is obviously smoothed or filled, but the untouched parts of the photo are identical to the source.

Is it legal to remove a watermark?

Only on images you own or are licensed to edit. Removing a watermark does not transfer copyright, and stripping marks off someone else work can be illegal. Use it on your own photos, licensed assets, or your own draft uploads.
